Spyder debuts at Milan Style Week Men's

While Milan Style Week Men's is typically reserved for the more traditional luxury brands fit for the dandy, sportswear is finding its home at one of the biggest Style Week's on the calendar. Spyder made its debut at their last week with a wide collection celebrating the active lifestyle. Established in the United States in 1978 as a ski wear brand, Spyder has been the official sponsor of the U.S. ski team for thirty years. In 2015 Spyder expanded its business to include running and training apparel, and currently supplies highly functional uniforms for a wide range of sports, including cycling, baseball and jiujitsu.

Called “Off-Shore”, the lifestyle men’s and women’s range took inspiration from the nautical environment. The technical fabrications and the graphic color combinations were inspired by the sailing world. Patches, zippers and color blocks gave a sporty, dynamic attitude to metropolitan staples bringing an energetic vibe to the urban life. The fresh and breezy color palette spans from white, navy, China blue and aqua green tones to hints of pale pink and dark red.

Part of Spyder’s lifestyle lineup is designed by FIT graduate Christopher Bevans. He held the role of global design director of urban apparel at Nike from 2006 to 2012, prior to joining Pharell Williams and Nigo’s Billionaire Boys Club as creative director. Bevans is now best known for being creative director of Dyne, which debuted in 2015 at New York Style Week: Men's. In 2017, he won the International Woolmark Regional Prize for Dyne.

The collection also includes a range of highly functional accessories conceived by Berlin-based Peter Brunsberg. The creative director of “Bagjack,” a brand offering practical courier bags, during his career he developed collaborations with several international brands, including Firmament, Cicli Berlinetta and Stone Island.

For this gym and outdoor sports product offering, Spyder collaborated with watch brand specialist Suunto, who developed a Smart Sensor, which can be easily paired with its Movescount App to analyze training performances. Along with a selection of scuba rash guards, Spyder also unveiled cycling suits, which incorporated technologies and structures traditionally applied to ski racing outfits with dynamic seam constructions and advanced fabrics.

Milan Style Week continues to get a little sportier.
